Sweet Shoes

My training tip of the day is to be creative with your workouts. I went to the park with Wilder this morning and used the monkey bars for chin ups and did some plyometrics between the swing set and slide. Got in some decent strength work and had a blast with my daughter. The real question however is which of us was wearing the cooler shoes?

Where Are You From?

New Christmas shirt from the Colorado Middaughs. I've worn it twice. So far no comments. Us Michiganders may be the only ones that value the hand as a means to show the where abouts of their current or past location.

Looks like I'm going to try to do the Donna Frank Marathon on February 17th. Should be fun if I can get my fitness up to a decent level by then. Lots of work to do in the next month. Wilder is going to be my training partner on her balance bike. Wish me luck!!

No swim :(

BFAS Sprint tri in Ponte Vedra yesterday. Crazy waves and current so they canceled the swim...bummer. Ended up fourth. Couldn't get into a rhythm on the bike. Next scheduled race is xterra Richmond!

Saturday Run and minivan

Went for an hour run this morning and then traded in our Subaru for a minivan!

Friday Bike and Swim

Biked 4 x 15 @ threshold. 90 degrees out and had no energy drink. Found a packet of crystal light in my desk and threw it in my water bottle. Slightly nauseous at end of ride. Not sure if it was the drink or effort!

Went for quick 1000 yard swim after.

Wed Brick

Rode computrainer in ergo mode for 4 x 10 min. @ 240, 250, 260, and 270 watts. Jumped on the treadmill and ran 10 minutes @ 10% grade and 7mph. Would have liked to have done one more run interval, but no time.

Sunday Ride

I didn't post yesterday. Sunday I rode 2:00 w/ 4 x 15 min @ threshold. Heart rate wouldn't respond. I was either fatigued from Saturday or lazy. Either way, I was a little slow, but I was reminded of something. My heart rate didn't vary much, but two of my intervals were 1.5 mph faster on average. The two where I stayed in aero position. Over the course of any race, this is a huge difference. So get comfortable in aero position!!!!

No time today. 26 min run...I mean jog!

Bike/Run Brick at San Felasco

Mt Biked 1:45 on single track at San Felasco near Gainesville, fl. Bunny hopped one large snake and had a great horned owl fly across the trail. Hopped off and ran 2 x 1 mile. The 1st @ 5:28 and second at 5:31. Need more mileage, but I'll take what I can get!

Drive

Today's workout was a drive to Gainesville with the family. Wilder kicked and screamed, but finally fell asleep around 10:00. I expect she'll be up every two hours. Oh the picture is not from today. No nap today!

4 x 10 min @ threshold w/ 2 min warm up and cool down. Total running clock 53 min. leaving enough time to take Wilder to the pool!

Run/Swim

8 x 90 sec repeats around school playground. A few after school kids cheering me on! Went to pool after dinner and cramped up. Had to cut an already short workout even shorter. Hope my coach isn't too upset!

46 min easy run. No intervals just running, but I did make the concoction pictured and I ate it! Hot corn bread, with ice cream, covered with real maple syrup from my parents sugar bush on N. Michigan.

This is the first race I have signed up for since last July. I have been super busy teaching and coaching. It's time to start getting serious again. Not sure if two months is enough time, but I will give it a shot.
